There is a tag inside that reads BARNET RueSaint Guiles, Paris; perhaps the distributor. Impressive, scarce, simple little disguised camera. Makes a great display. J1890's J.L. & S. Opticians DETECTIVE SATCHEL Box Camera w/ SEESAW SHUTTER and original double wooden plate holder. The camera measures 9" x 5" x 6". The shutter works but is tricky. It needs to be played with to get it to function. Serial number stamped inside the door is 1548. The big dial on the side moves the interior for focus. The dial on the front cocks the shutter.

It was also marketed by the Perry Mason Co in Boston, MA. (see the booklet). There is no haze fungus scratches etc and is bright and clear. Even the lens cap has stayed with the outfit! This was common when film was super slow and before shutters were common.
